Editorial | Autumn Test Shoot with Julia Jeckell

Aaahhhhhhh Autumn, my favourite season. The time of the year when everything changes, the colours just pop and you can't help but go out of your way to stand on that crunchy leaf.

So you can understand my excitement when my good friend and incredible hair and makeup artist, Julia Jeckell, contacted me about collaborating and creating an autumnal look.

Julia had just bought a new eyeshadow colour palette and couldn't wait to test it out, seeing as we've worked before we both knew the result would be great and we would of course have a ridiculously fun day.

With the help of the naturally beautiful Shannon from Boss Models we set off to Canon Hall in the lovely Yorkshire countryside just outside of Sheffield to seek out those autumnal colours.

I am predominantly a wedding photographer (if you haven't already guessed) but I really do enjoy delving into other genres of photography. The one I seriously lack confidence with is anything to do with fashion or portraiture. I lack this confidence because of something my tutor once said to me at University which basically put me off working with models ever again. So you can understand that I was of course nervous to do this shoot but it was made a lot easier by working with 2 lovely and relaxed ladies.

I think what this shoot taught me is that you shouldn't be scared of trying things. Looking back my tutor was a really horrible man, he just used to tear people apart and never had anything positive to say. So all I have to say to him is look at me now, look at this work I'm producing and look at how much fun I'm having doing it.

Anyway, thanks to Julia for getting me involved and I think you'll all agree she's done an incredible job with Shannon's hair and makeup.
